My favorite part of starting a stationery suite is getting to know the couple and their story and find inspiration in that, rather than rushing in and creating something derivative. I consider the significance of the venue location (Ashley’s parents were married there over 25 years before!), the couple’s vision and typefaces that match the style of the day.
I visited Ashley and Trey’s wedding venue in the winter, after we had our initial consultation, and did a sketch of what it might look like when everything was in bloom later that June when they planned to marry. I always find inspiration in the hope of warmer weather during the winter, and working on this suite was no different.
We played up the timeless beauty of New Harmony with garden roses and greenery to match the location and time of the year and printed everything on a cream linen stock with floral banding to match.
