We loved Robert’s email to us about how he and Jen met and pulled their wedding together so much that we wanted to give it to you, our readers, in its original form. Enjoy!
The new girl from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania… a career woman that moved to Evansville for work – beauty, brains, a weirdly hot obsession with cars, Jen is the total package. The click of her heels walking down Main Street, her impressive attention to detail, her supportive love of all people… this chick is the real deal! Her mystique almost had me wondering if she was actually CIA shipped to Evansville on assignment. Nonetheless, we eventually met and had a connection from Day 1. Her wits and sarcasm sucked me right in (she’ll say I showed up and never left!). Whatever the story may be, I’m glad things have panned out the way they have – to an intimate, beautiful… boozy wedding.
The details of our wedding were phenomenal! Jen really did a great job bringing character from every single piece we sourced for decorations, tableware, and clothing. She loves antiques – items with a story and she loves a good deal (thank God!). Our centerpieces were my favorite. They were mostly created using detailed assortments of copper, various metal ware, and lanterns from all parts of the world. Coming home to Etsy packages from France, Italy, Lithuania, Croatia, etc. could make one ask some questions… but Jen pulled together the pieces in such an impressive manner that I’ve gotten accustomed to just trusting her instincts! The bar menu also brought in a unique charm. Our signature drinks, Pittsburgh Plum Jen Fizz & Bob’s Bold Fashioned had all the punsters talking & kept the local Uber drivers busy.
The venue was perfect for us. We stumbled into a great situation with 20 West – which allowed the flowers, decorations, and colors to really come together nicely. I can’t tell you how much we were complimented for having an impressive “vendor list.” I admittedly didn’t pay much attention to this in the months prior – after all, Jen was being her kickass boss-woman self to make sure all this “wedding stuff” got taken care of. However, after the completion of our wedding, it is clear to see how all our vendors and wedding planner were instrumental in facilitating our experience.
Jen incorporated various tokens to her late mother – who passed a few months before Jen and I met. Having never gotten the chance to meet her, it was special for me to feel that she was truly a part of that day with us. We are so appreciative for those that made a special trip to Evansville, which was the case most of our guests. For many of them, it was their first time in Evansville & I think they had a lot of fun with their experience.
Overall: I’ve probably embarrassed Jen with this article, but I can’t express enough how thankful I am to have had such a perfect day with her. I owe my gratitude to a number of people, but Jen’s unique ability to source from across the globe (I’m still not ruling her out for CIA) and tireless effort in implementing a creative touch are something for which I’ll be forever grateful.
