In Danielle’s words, “Colin and I met in the library on Murray State University’s campus in 2012. After being friends for a couple of years, we began dating in 2014. We got engaged on Colin’s favorite day of the year, the winter solstice of 2019, in the living room of our home. He loves this day because it marks the shortest day of the year and every day after that gets brighter. We began the hunt for a venue and a photographer almost immediately. While I knew that Courtney at Boulder Creek Photography was who I wanted to be there on our special day, the venue was a tougher choice. After seeing a few, we were able to view the Old Courthouse, and we knew instantly that was our venue! The architecture and elegance of the courthouse was stunning, and we knew that when it came to decor, we would stick to minimal and let the beauty of the building shine through.
Our main goal for the wedding was to not only make it special for us, but also for the friends and family who helped get us to this point in our relationship. We incorporated our family into several aspects of the wedding; my sister-in-law, a graphic designer, created all of our invitations and other paper product designs, Colin’s sister, a makeup artist, did my makeup, my grandfather made candied pecans to sit out, and Colin’s parents helped set up and provided a lot of the food and snacks.
The overarching theme for our wedding was “growth”, in the relationship and in this new season of our life together, which we incorporated by completing a plant watering “unity” ceremony during the nuptials and having flower seed packets as our favors.
We had the best experience and the most perfect wedding!”
